Switzerland is concerned at the violation of the principle of non-refoulement in the case of the recent transfer of 40 Uyghurs from Thailand to China. Switzerland recalls the importance of states carrying out a detailed risk assessment for human rights violations and establish mechanisms of protection when they transfer migrants to other countries. In China, Switzerland remains concerned at the recent repression of the right to freedom of expression. We remind China of the need to ensure full respect for the rights of ethnic minorities as well as religious and linguistic minorities in Xinjiang, Tibet and the rest of the country. All persons transferred from third countries must be treated in line with international human rights standards. Thank you.
