32nd Meeting 58th Session of Human Rights Council UN Web TV
– General debate on agenda item 3 (Cont’d)
Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture, Mr. Jamal Baloch
发言内容:
Mr. President,
I stand before you to bring urgent attention to the ongoing human rights crisis in Balochistan, where enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and mass displacement have become a tragic norm.
The people of Balochistan are subjected to systematic oppression by Pakistan with activists, journalists, and ordinary citizens facing severe persecution for demanding their independence and fundamental rights.
Adding to this crisis is China’s involvement through the China-Pakistan economic corridor, an exploitative project that has stripped the Baloch people of their land, resources, and livelihoods without their consent. Under the guise of development, Balochistan has been turned into a militarized zone, where dissent is silenced and the population is forcibly removed to make way for illegal projects that benefit China and Pakistan while leaving the local population in deeper poverty and insecurity.
We call upon the United Nations and the international community to take immediate action. There must be an independent investigation into human rights abuses in Balochistan and China’s role in these violations must not be ignored. Development cannot come at the cost of human lives and dignity. It is time for accountability, justice, and the protection of the fundamental rights of the people of Balochistan.
I thank you.
