President,
First, we would like to raise the fate of 40 Uyghurs , exiled from China on the 27th of February in total violation of international law.
This is a time when millions of Muslims around the world are celebrating Ramadan, yet the Uyghurs are deprived of their rights of religion to practice their religion. Measures of eradication and radicalization have been imposed, leading to abuses , including prohibitions ongoing to the mosque or even on praying.
This is not just an attack on religious freedom. This is an attack on human dignity, identity and culture.
In recent years, the United Nations and its Special Rapporteur and mandate holders have alerted the international community to these violations committed against the Uyghurs . I invite the organization of Islamic cooperation to show greater solidarity towards the Uyghurs Muslims, and I invite this council to do the same.
