发言内容:
Thank you, Mr. President.
Last year, the 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of China was held in Xinjiang and Hainan. People of all ethnic groups actively showcased themselves on sports fields, promoting to build an inclusive and diverse society.
The Games is a national-level, comprehensive mass sports event with distinct ethnic characteristics, which has held for 12 sessions since 1953. During the 12th session, more than 6,000 athletes of various ethnic groups participated in 18 competitive items and 170 performance items.
The Games was aimed to protect and develop ethnic traditional sports culture and promote mutual exchanges and learning among people. For instance, six categories of ethnic wrestling were available, namely Mongolian, Uyghur, Yi, Tibetan, Hui, and Korean wrestling.
Athletes of all ethnic groups could register and participate. We hereby propose that countries and regions with permitted conditions should establish systems for development of ethnic sports, make ethnic groups more visible in public space.
Thank you.
