26th Meeting 58th Session of Human Rights Council UN Web TV
ID with Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights (cont’d) and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism (Cont’d)
China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS), Ms. Sun Meng
发言内容:
Terrorism remains one of the greatest, a gravest contemporary threats to fundamental human rights worldwide.
Despite sustained global counter-terrorism efforts spending over two decades, three systematic obstacles continue to hinder progress.
First, geopolitical rivalries and military interventions by major powers have unintentionally created environments conducive to the proliferation of terrorism.
Second, the persistent application of double standards in international counter-terrorism cooperations not only undermines global solidarity but also risks normalizing political violence through selective moral relativism. This paradoxical situation is exemplified by certain countries’ selective condemnation of terrorist incidents, particularly evident in their politicized response to counter-terrorism efforts in China’s Xinjiang region.
Third, the absence of a cohesive global value system has allowed ideological extremism to gain pseudo legitimacy across multiple dimensions.
Thank you.
