Portugal welcomes the delegation of China and thanks it for the presentation of its national report.
Portugal commends China for amending the Law on the Protection of Women’s Rights to include a definition of discrimination against women.
Portugal recommends that China:
- Ratifies the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the UNESCO Convention against Discrimination in Education.
- Adopts a moratorium on the death penalty with the objective of its abolishment.
- Adopts legislation requiring companies to respect human rights, with provisions on the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment and stricter rules on safe working conditions and workplace harassment.
Portugal wishes China a successful review.
