Fiji welcomes the delegation of China and commends the government for its commitment to poverty eradication. Fiji applauds China’s efforts through its targeted poverty alleviation strategy which has seen nearly 100 million rural poor lifted out of poverty, thereby achieving the SDG poverty reduction target ten years ahead of schedule.
With respect, Fiji recommends as follows:
- Continue to strengthen efforts in combating trafficking in persons, especially the trafficking of women and children, and provide effective protection and assistance to the victims of trafficking; and
- Continue to strengthen efforts in effectively implementing the ‘Healthy China’ strategy, including improving access to affordable health-care services, especially in primary care service at the local level and in rural areas.
