Statement by the Delegation of the Kingdom of Bhutan
Bhutanwelcomes the delegation and thanks the delegation for the report.
We welcome the adoption and implementation of the National Action Plan for Human Rights (2021–2025) and the enactment of laws such as the Civil Code, the Legal Aid Law and the Personal Information Protection Law.
We commend the significant progress in poverty alleviation and the achievement of the poverty reduction target of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ahead of schedule. We also note the efforts in strengthening the rights of women, children, the elderly and the disabled.
We would like to recommend China the following:
- Continue its efforts in poverty alleviation, with particular focus on bridging the gap (in economic and social development) between rural and urban areas.
- Continue to improve reproductive and mental healthcare services.
- Continue to strengthen the social security system in rural areas.
We wish China a successful UPR.
