Austria remains deeply concerned about the human rights situation in China, in particular the vulnerable situation of persons belonging to religious, ethnic and linguistic minorities. We recall the OHCHR’s 2022 assessment highlighting serious violations against Uyghurs and other minorities. We call upon China to fully implement the report’s recommendations, ensure accountability, and cooperate with UN mechanisms for independent monitoring and follow-up.
