Mr. Vice President,
Despite of over 20 years after its adoption,DDPA( Durban Declaration and Programme of Action) still faces persistent challenges in its effective implementation.
One significant barrier is the lack of political will. Some countries show reluctance to recognise it and even demonise it.
As a result, the rise of racist ,hate speech has intensified and the migrants and minorities are facing increasing racism and xenophobia.
Racial discrimination leads to social division, erodes mutual trust, hinders economic progress, breeds violence and injustice, and undermines the very essence of inclusive and harmonious society.
The Global Civilisation Initiative, proposed by China advocates mutual respect, inclusiveness and co-existence of different civilisations.
The international community should invest more in dialogue between cultures and civilisations, as well as in multicultural education, to increase mutual understanding and respect among different races.
The UN should play a leading role in promoting the implementation of DDPA and preventing AI from exacerbating discrimination.
