Thanks to our commissioner for his oral update on the the development of human rights situation worldwide.
We pay attributes to the High Commissioner for his excellent work done in the context of the promotion of the protection of human rights, and in particular, efforts made to provide member states technical assistance and capacity building that they need to guarantee respect for human rights worldwide.
However, we know we’re concerned the effects of the major problems which have shaken the world in the last few years and in particular, the Covid 19 pandemic, armed conflicts, energy, and climate crisis, which have seriously challenged our country’s abilities to cope and really affected the vulnerable and the poor.
We would like to remind all states that you need to more effectively cooperate on essential issues and to provide greater and more proactive solidarity to protect and promote human rights.
Furthermore, Côte d’Ivoire would like to invite the council to remain faithful to its major principles which are universality, partiality, objectivity and non-selectivity in how to deal with human rights issue, in order to avoid politicization of debates, including those that have to do with human rights in Hong Kong and Xinjiang and Tibet.
