Israel welcomes the delegation of the China to the UPR, thanks it for its National Report and notes its efforts implementing recommendations since the last review.
At the same time, Israel remains concerned with the situation in Xinjiang and the human rights of the Uyghur minority.
Israel would like to recommend China:
- to take practical steps to improve the human rights situation in Xinjiang
- to take further action to ensure that older persons, in particular older women and older persons with disabilities, enjoyed an adequate standard of living and had access to basic services, especially in rural areas
- to ratify at earliest the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and to allow a flourishing civil society, including independent NGO’s, that address societal discrimination and effectively combats violence against women and children.
