The Gambia welcomes the delegation of China and thank them for their interaction with the Human Rights Council today.
We wish to commend the government of China for its commitment to narrowing the development gap between urban and rural areas and between regions, and for providing equal employment opportunities for rural and urban workers.
Mr President,
While recognizing the efforts and commitments being made by the government of China, my delegation would like to make the following recommendations;
- reinforces the safeguarding of ethnic and religious minorities’ rights by promoting the preservation of cultural identities.
- continue to advance administrative and judicial reforms for the ratification of the Convention on Civil and Political Rights
- increase information accessibility to help the elderly and people with disabilities.
