Eritrea’s Statement at the Universal Periodic Review of China

Thank you Mr. President,
Eritrea welcomes the delegation of the People’s Republic of China and thanks for its national report.
We appreciate and applaud the efforts made for the inclusion of Article 4 of the Hong Kong National Security Law which stresses that human rights are respected.
We also commend the system of ethnic regional autonomy, which undoubtedly, guarantees the protection of the political rights of people of all ethnic groups in Xizang.
In the spirit of constructive engagement, Eritrea recommends the following;
1. Continue to improve the mechanism for supervising law enforcement and judiciary, while improving those of law enforcement and judicial personnel themselves.
2. Continue to uphold the regional ethnic autonomy system and comprehensively promote ethnic unity and progress.
3. Continue to promote and safeguard the rights of Hong Kong and Macao residents in accordance with all relevant local laws.
We wish the People’s Republic of China every success in its review.
