Thank you, Mr. President/ Vice-President,
Timor-Leste commends the progress made by China on human rights since its last UPR.
My delegation welcomes the efforts to ensure the enjoyment of the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment, through various policies, such as the green transformation of industry and energy restructuring, and for recognizing the importance of public participation as one of the basic principles of environmental protection and guarantees citizens’ rights to information, participation, and oversight.
In a constructive spirit, Timor-Leste recommends that China:
- Establish a national human rights institution, in accordance with the Paris Principle.
- Continue to ensure public participation in the protection of the environment.
- Continue to improve the gender equality landscape in both the public and private sectors.
We wish China a successful review.
