Mr. President,
Sri Lanka warmly welcomes the delegation of the People’s Republic of China and expresses our appreciation for the comprehensive presentation made and the progressive measures to further commitments undertaken at the third cycle.
We recognize the upholding of the right to life and the right to development as the primary basic human rights, and adherence to a people-centred development ideology.
We also recognize the adoption of policies on freedom of religious belief based on national realities and religious conditions, to protect citizens’ right to freedom of religious belief, build healthy religious relations and maintain social harmony.
In a constructive spirit, we recommend that China ;
- Continues to adhere to the philosophy of people-centered development, safeguards the fundamental interests of the people and promotes the well-being of people’s livelihoods.
- Strengthens the “Belt and Road” health cooperation, including traditional Chinese medicine and build a “Healthy Silk Road”
- Continuously improves the management system for ecological and environmental standards.
Sri Lanka wishes the People’s Republic of China success in its UPR engagement.
