50th Meeting 58th Session of Human Rights Council UN Web TV
– Item 9: General debate (Cont’d)
International Career Support Association, Mr. Shunichi Fujiki
发言内容:
Thank you, Vice President,
The persecution of Christians in China has escalated under the ruling Chinese Communist Party. Despite China’s constitutional guarantee of religious freedom, the CCP has actively sought to suppress Christianity, aiming to make it disappear altogether.
Tactics including demolishing churches, removing crosses, arresting Christian leaders, and restricting religious gatherings. Christian communities have been targeted with forced church closures, arrests, and suppression of online religious contents.
Prominent leaders like Bishop Wei Zhu and Xiao Zemin have disappeared, and entire communities are under siege, marking severe violations of religious freedom and human rights.
Mr. Vice President, we call on the Council for the following three countermeasures.
1. Investigate the ongoing prosecution of Christians in China, including church demolitions and the forced disappearances of religious leaders.
2. Demand that China cease action restricting religious freedom and allow Christians to practice freely without fear of repression.
3. Urge China to end the force of allegiance between the religious institutions and the Communist Party, and restore independence to the religious communities.
The international community must act decisively to protect religious rights in China. Silence in the face of such oppression is the complicity.
I thank you very much, Mr. Vice President.
