49th Meeting 58th Session of Human Rights Council UN Web TV
– Commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
China Ethnic Minorities’ Association for External Exchanges, Ms. Wu Lan
发言内容:
Distinguished Mr. President, dear guests,
My name is Wu Lan. With the colonial expansion, racism emerged and constantly triggered group conflicts and hatred have caused immense sufferings on human society. China always opposes all forms of racial discrimination, from the Silk Road dating back to over 2,000 years ago to the prevailing 240-hour visa-free transit policy, China consistently embraces the world with an open attitude.
Today’s world is fraught with uncertainties, and racism can hardly absolve itself from the blame. In some countries, law enforcers still hold a presumption of guilt against people of color with the use of excessive force against peaceful anti-racism protests.
Some public figures and media make inflammatory racist remarks, all of which constitute systemic racial discrimination. Particularly in recent years, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and EU countries have witnessed a sharp increase in racial discrimination and hostile crimes.
The Asian and African Americans are still trapped in numerous troubles in daily life and on-fire treatments in many respects, which call for prompt reflections from the international community.
Thank you. 消息来源:UN WEB TV,49th Meeting – 58th Session of Human Rights Council, https://webtv.un.org/en/asset/k1r/k1rd3dhg7e.
