Thank you, Mr president,
The Chinese government is systematically eradicating Islamic identity in Xinjiang, home to over 11 million Uyghurs and other Muslims.
The grand mosque of the Shadian ,for example,has lost its traditional arabic features as a part of their campaign to sinicize religious sites.
Since 2016,the most reform program has led to the destruction and alteration of thousand of mosques was up to 5,000, reportedly destroyed just 3 months, significant damaging from 2016 to 2018 is a part of the border repression,including growth broader.
The repression including the mass internment camps of Uyghurs, aiming to separate them from their faith and culture, constituting culture genocide,restrict mosques like domes of grand mosque have been demolished,esrasing centuries of heritage.
Such as Islamic features systematically removed and replaced to the Chinese style pagodas, remaining mosques are used for state propaganda and surveillance, with the campaign extending beyond the Xinjiang ,and Beijing suggested nation wide efforts to erase the Uyghur identity.
We urge this council to recommend the China preserve these vulnerable historical sites for human histories and free Uyghur people from the severe repression.
