Thank you, Mr vice President,
Human rights defender in China face challenges in the region like Xinjiang,Tibet,and South Mongolia and Hong Kong, as well as among religious minorities, LGBT human communities, journalists and political dissident.
Defender under severe crakdown and threatened, their families are also targeted to silence dissent. That’s 709 crackdown on July 9 2015 marked one of the most intense suppression of civil society in China, initially affecting around 300 defenders and leading to widespread detentions and harassment of the advocates for rights and reforms, numerous reports indicate mistreatment in detention,including torture while in custody.
Tragically,activists like Guo Hongwei（郭洪伟） have lost life in prison， and many defenders faced long term sentences and questionable charges, Prominent figure like Qin Yongmin（秦永敏）and Ilham Tohti (伊力哈木·土赫提)have received harsh sentences while Chow Hang-tung(邹幸彤) and XX remained in prison despite the UN calls for their release.
Despite international pressure over the Chinese Communist Party employed the impressive tactics.Often this regarding fundamental human rights,the bravery of these defenders highlights their urgent need for global advocacy to hold China accountable.
The international community must support those risking their rights for dignity and freedom in China and the oppressive dictatorship.
