It is ironic that in January this year, a group of so called independent UN human rights experts called on HKSAR government to drop the sedition and collusion charges against Jimmy Lai and release him immediately.
Here in Hong Kong,China.We all know Jimmy Lai is a major mastermind and financial supporter at the highest level of command behind the riots in Hong Kong.He publicly engaged with the American leadership under Trump and pleaded for the US to interfere in Hong Kong affairs.
He also used his media company’s newspaper Apple Daily to call for sanction on the Chinese central government and HKSAR as they are and spent nearly 100 million Hong Kong dollars on local activists’ campaigns from 2013 to 2020.
The statements made by the human rights experts are politically motivated and 100% double standards.I wonder if the human rights experts will accept there is someone like Jimmy Lai actively collaborates with foreign and forces to undermine American of British rule? or a newspaper like Apple Daily publishers,suspicious articles and call for sanctions on the US or UK government?
Ladies and Gentlemen,Jimmy Lai ‘s case have been handled strictly in accordance with the law and on the basis of evidence and have nothing to do with the freedom of expression,peaceful assembly,and association while Hong Kong has returned to the right track.
Nation security remains our priority.Hong kong will not allow anyone to damage for stability and prosperity and we will continue to uphold the rule of law and defend judicial independence.Thank you.
