In a constructive spirit, Liechtenstein recommends that China
- Ratify the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and its Optional Protocols,
- Implement the recommendations of the OHCHR’s assessment of human rights concerns in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region,
- Ensure that human rights defenders, journalists, and lawyers, including in Hong Kong, are not targeted for exercising their freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly in line with international human rights law.
- Establish a moratorium on the death penalty with a view to its complete abolition.
